Local Lib Dems attend the party's Autumn Conference

8.35.25pm BST (GMT +0100) Sat 17th Oct 2009

Annette Deacon and Sarah Clarke attended the Liberal Democrat Conference in Bournemouth. They told this website:

"The Conference was buzzing with conversations and debates on policy and fringe discussions. The principle categories of the debates were on:

  • the economy;

  • climate change and the environment;

  • improving justice, democracy and civil liberties;

  • child protection;

  • housing.

All had the aim of creating a "Fresh Start for Britain - Choosing a different, better future".

There were excellent speeches and debates, and open forum question sessions, with experts in the subject, as well as parliamentarians. On the lighter side there were many laughs, and the traditional Glee Club one evening.

Liberal Democrats have been right on so many issues and campaigned in Parliament for them like the economy, climate change, and social justice issues way before the other parties have got the message."
